Initiatives

The General Conference organizes and promotes a number of global initiatives to encourage and grow the faith of members and reach others with the good news of the hope that can be found in Jesus. Below are some of these initiatives:

Adventist Possibility Ministries

Adventist Possibility Ministries (APM) is a global initiative of the Seventh-day Adventist Church that seeks to bring inclusion, focus, and possibility-thinking to those often marginalized in church and society because of a disability or personal loss. These individuals include those who are grieving the loss of a spouse; are blind or have low vision; need caregiver support; face physical-mobility challenges; are deaf or are hard of hearing; have mental health issues and face social stigmas; and those who are orphans or are seen as vulnerable children. APM coordinates ministries of compassion, purpose, and hope by bringing focus that seeks to inspire, equip, and empower these individuals for personal fulfillment and service to others. Central to this ministry is the belief that personal worth is found in Christ’s love and purpose for every person and not in what a person can or cannot do.

Mission to the Cities

As more and more people move to the cities, it has never been more important to find ways to share the love of Jesus in urban centers. Mission to the Cities is an initiative of the world Seventh-day Adventist Adventist Church that is specifically focused on bringing hope to these rapidly growing, global hubs. The need here is great. 580 cities around the world have more than 1 million people and 31 of these centers don’t have a single Adventist congregation. A full 119 of these large cities have less than 125 Adventists living in them. It’s time to make an urban impact!

Revival and Reformation

This is a worldwide movement in which Seventh-day Adventists join together to pray earnestly for the power of God’s Holy Spirit to revive and strengthen their faith. It is a global cry for reformation as members everywhere come closer to God both as individuals and as a family of believers. Revival and Reformation is organized by the Ministerial Department.

Believe His Prophets

This global initiative from the Ministerial Department features a journey through a Believe His Prophets reading plan. Those that undertake this adventure will study both the Bible and the writings of Ellen White as they reflect on the stories of transformation and personal encounters with God. This is a series of studies that will help you grow.

10 Days of Prayer

There is something extremely powerful that happens when God’s people come together to pray. Churches in over a 100 countries have experienced the blessings of the Ministerial Department’s 10 Days of Prayer global initiative that brings believers together for 10 days in a row to seek the power of God in their lives and in their churches. This prayer experience needs to be experienced to be understood!

Total Member Involvement

Total Member Involvement is about involving every Seventh-day Adventist member in the mission. This initiative of the Adventist Church seeks to inspire and equip every Adventist to help their friends and family understand the Bible to find freedom and hope in Jesus. This kind of work is not just the responsibility of pastors and evangelists. Reaching the world with the good news of salvation will take every Adventist doing their part. It also means teamwork and collaboration among members to do so much more than any one person could do on their own.
